Standard Plastic Profiles

Absolute Custom Extrusions offers tooling for over 2000 standard plastic profiles. Some examples include U Channels, C Clips, L Brackets, etc. Every one of ACE’s plastic profiles has a distinctive cross-sectional shape. These types of extrusions can be long channels or small corner components.

If you are looking to save on your plastic extrusion project, ACE has the solution by providing you with a choice of economical and high-quality recycled materials.

What is Plastic Extrusion by Absolute Custom Extrusions?

In ACE’s over 35 years of experience in the plastic extrusion business, we have developed economical and efficient processes capable of producing high quality and exceptional performing extruded parts. The process begins with the selection of the required profile from ACE’s standard plastic profiles collection. Using our technically advanced equipment, we will meet the demands of any design or conceptualization using the highest quality raw polymers.

ACE’s plastic extrusion process is a method for forming plastic parts by forcing raw melted plastic through a profile in the shape of the final product. The process begins by feeding granules or pellets into a long tube-like extruder that slowly melts and evenly heats the raw material as it forces it along a tube to a die in the shape of the final part. As the profile exits the die, it cools and hardens into the final profile that exactly matches the dimensions of the original design.

Available Standard Plastic Profiles Sizes

ACE offers the extrusion of a wide array of standard plastic profiles which is what differentiates us. Absolute Custom Extrusions has an extensive selection of profiles that range in sizes from 1/8" to as wide as 6". Give us your design and ACE will make it a reality.

One of our capabilities that we are the proudest of is the consistency in wall thicknesses for our standard plastic profiles with wall thicknesses that vary between .030" to 0.250". This single feature guarantees the highest quality performance for your extruded part. We ensure that every part we produce conforms to ACE’s high standards regardless of the length to which you want it cut.

Materials Available for Standard Plastic Profiles

The key to the quality of a plastic extruded part is the quality of the material used to produce it. Each polymer has characteristics that are designed to perform to meet the needs of a particular and discrete application. Selecting the correct polymer ensures that the final product will meet your requirements. ACE’s Materials are carefully selected based on heat, pressure, chemical resistance, durability, dimensional stability, cost, and other characteristics.

Our current list of materials contains the following:

  • Polystyrene (HIPS)
  • ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
  • Low or Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE, LLDPE)
  • PVC Rigid or Flexible (Polyvinyl Chloride)
  • Engineered Thermoplastics

Other materials can be used, but are on a per-request basis.

Recycled materials can be used when requirements permit.

Profile Categories and Functional Roles

Standard profiles are organized by how they interact with surrounding components. ACE’s library includes shapes designed to:

  • Support edges or corners
  • Guide movement along a defined path
  • Hold panels or inserts in position
  • Provide spacing or separation between surfaces
  • Reinforce lightweight structures
  • Create visual or tactile boundaries within assemblies

These profiles range from simple linear shapes to more complex geometries that support multi point contact or controlled engagement with mating parts.

Dimensional Consistency and Shape Stability

Each standard profile is produced using tooling that has been refined through repeated production cycles. This helps maintain uniformity across long runs and ensures the profile retains its intended shape during cooling, handling, and installation.

Dimensional ranges typically include widths from 1/8" to 6" and wall thicknesses from 0.030" to 0.250". These parameters support applications requiring lightweight trim, structural reinforcement, or functional components that must align precisely with adjacent parts.

Material Selection for Standard Profiles

ACE selects materials for standard profiles based on how the component must behave during use. Considerations include:

  • Resistance to deformation under load
  • Interaction with fasteners or mounting hardware
  • Exposure to cleaning agents or environmental conditions
  • Requirements for rigidity, cushioning, or controlled flexibility

Standard profiles can be produced in a range of thermoplastics, with recycled options available when project requirements allow.

Color Options and Identification Features

Standard profiles can be produced in stock colors or matched to customer specifications. Color selection supports visibility, branding, or assembly identification. Additional features such as printed markings or surface textures can be incorporated depending on the material and profile geometry.

When Standard Profiles Are the Right Choice

Standard plastic profiles are well suited for projects that require:

  • Proven geometries with predictable performance
  • Shorter lead times compared to custom tooling
  • Cost efficient sourcing for recurring builds
  • Components that integrate into existing assemblies without modification
  • Reliable dimensional behavior across long production runs

ACE helps customers determine whether a standard profile meets their requirements or whether a modified or custom design would better support the application.

FAQ

How Do I Know If a Standard Profile Will Work for My Application?

ACE reviews your drawing, sample, or dimensional outline and compares it to available shapes to determine whether an existing profile meets your functional and installation requirements.

Can Standard Profiles Be Cut or Packaged to Match My Production Workflow?

Yes. Standard profiles can be supplied in continuous lengths or segmented pieces depending on how they will be used on the production floor.

Are Recycled Materials Available for Standard Profiles?

Recycled materials can be used when the application allows. ACE evaluates performance expectations before confirming suitability.

Can Standard Profiles Be Produced in Custom Colors?

Yes. Standard profiles can be manufactured in stock or custom colors depending on the material and project requirements.

Standard Plastic Profiles Colors ACE Offers

An extra benefit of working with ACE as your standard plastic profile solution is our custom color matching ability.

ACE offers stock and custom colors, which vary depending on your material selection.
